The Fortnite Sprite Locator lets players detect buried Sprite Chests with pinpoint accuracy, reducing the luck factor that has historically governed Sprite discoveries.
Acquiring the Locator via the Sprite Mastery Track
Unlocking the tool requires mastering 17 unique Sprites along the Sprite Mastery reward chain. Unlike conventional loot, no standard or Sprite chests dispense the Locator, and no additional copies are presently obtainable.
Three Locator Gizmos are awarded through the Mastery progression and persist across sessions, binding them to the account rather than individual matches. A death immediately after deployment loses the active Locator and the chest location.
Deploying the Locator in Battle
Activate the gizmo wheel by holding Y (triangle on PlayStation), RT (R2 on Xbox), or L on keyboard. Select “Sprite Locator” and press the trigger or left‑click to initiate the scan.
Within seconds, the HUD displays a custom marker at the nearest buried Sprite Chest. Approach the highlighted point, use the pickaxe to dig, and check the hologram overhead for the Sprite type before extracting.
Enhancing Your Hunt for Special Variants
Locations revealed by the Locator have a higher probability of containing Special Sprites, including Gold, Gummy, Galaxy, and Holofoil versions. This feature offers a direct path to rare collections that were previously RNG‑driven.
For players seeking unknown Sprites, the forthcoming Lucky Locator will guarantee a new Sprite, but that tool arrives later in the season.
