Red Bull junior pair Liam Lawson and Arvid Lindblad returned from the Belgian Grand Prix aboard an EasyJet flight rather than a private jet, defying the usual image of F1 comings and goings.
Budget Airline Choice
After the Spa weekend, Lawson posted a snapshot of the duo embedding themselves in an economy cabin—Lawson on the window, Lindblad dead centre.
“I’ve not got much money, so I’m still going on the normal commercial flights,” Lindblad said. “If I can save a bit of money, I might as well save some money even if I have more.”
The team deliberately booked the two close together; Lindblad remembered Lawson in 3F and himself in 3D, a manoeuvre that put them beside each other rather than in far‑flown seats.
Race‑Day Showdown
The tight battle unfolded on the Circuit de Spa‑Francorchamps as the pair ran side‑by‑side through Eau Rouge and up the Kemmel Straight; Lawson veered onto the Les Combes run‑off to avoid contact.
“It was actually a really, really good fight,” Lawson said. “Last weekend, he was definitely quicker. It wasn’t something I could really fight too hard against, honestly.”
After‑the‑Track Rapport
Off the race track, both drivers praised each other’s effort. “When I saw him, I told him, ‘Well done,’ when I saw him in Q3,” Lindblad said of a qualifying moment where Lawson had scored higher.
Lawson added, “When we’re out of the car, we’re normal guys. We don’t really care.”
The combination of a public battle and private friendship illustrates the level of camaraderie within Red Bull Racing’s junior squad, even when splashing a budget on budget airlines.
