The GT 63 PRO 4MATIC+ marks Mercedes’ 14th official safety car, sporting a 4.0‑litre V8 biturbo that pushes 612 hp and 850 Nm of torque. With the inaugural use of the fully variable AMG Performance 4MATIC+ system, the vehicle becomes the first F1 safety car to drive all‑wheel‑drive, giving teams predictable grip even under wet conditions. Lightweight ceramic composite brakes and an AMG Speedshift MCT 9‑speed transmission conclude the powertrain, while a rear‑wing-mounted signalling kit and extra LEDs improve visibility for on‑track teams.
Staggered Aerodynamics and Stability Upgrades
Specific chassis tweaks optimize high‑speed handling: a new front splitter and dive planes at the front create additional downforce on the leading axle, while a modified rear wing featuring an active flap ensures steady airflow across the vehicle. These modifications reduce lift in corners and at high velocity, granting riders the confidence to safely escort the race cars at any speed.

For its Hungarian debut, safety‑car driver Bernd Maylander pilots a one‑off livery that commemorates the 30th anniversary of Mercedes’ involvement in Formula 1 safety cars. Mercedes now supplies safety and medical cars alone after the recent split of duties with Aston Martin, underscoring the brand’s continued commitment to safeguarding the sport.
