Demonstration runs headline the opening stages
Both Thursday and Friday, the former World Rally Champion will drive the Toyota Corolla GT AE86 through the Harju layout in a week‑long series of display runs. On Thursday Rovanpera will take the wheel, with Halttunen following behind in an alternate session that sees the duo switch roles on Friday.
Co‑driving swap gains historic flavour
The two have shared success on the world circuit, notably winning Rally Finland last year behind the wheel of a factory Toyota GR Yaris Rally1. The new pair echoes that legacy by splitting driving duties to showcase different skillsets on the same demanding stage.
Road map for full comeback
Rovanpera’s appearance comes after a recent stop at Rally Estonia while on holiday, his first WRC event since stepping back from the championship to pursue circuit racing in 2026. Medical issues had delayed a planned Super Formula campaign, but Toyota confirmed his return to physical training and a “phased” return to the road.
He last tested the Toyota GR Supra drift model and expressed confidence that his fitness is back “to drive” again, suggesting an entry into regular competition by 2027. The driver’s focus remains on building momentum for that targeted re‑entry, while also mentoring former Toyota teammate Takamoto Katsuta.
With the Harju stage’s iconic status and his recent re‑orientation, Rovanpera’s demonstrations signal that the 25‑year‑old is not only back in the spotlight but actively shaping his future roadmap back into competitive rally racing.
