Historic Roots of MotoGP at Silverstone
Motorcycle racing first arrived at Silverstone in 1977, marking the championship’s transition to a mainland British venue.
After Donington Park hosted the British GP from 1987, Silverstone reclaimed the race in 2010 following significant investments in infrastructure, including the new “Silverstone Wing” complex.
Since that comeback, the circuit has hosted the event annually, with only the 2018 and 2020 meetings cancelled for external reasons.
