Martin steals pole in British GP qualifying

Alex Marquez was the first rider to breach the 1m57 s barrier, slipping away with 1m57.167 s. When the track softened, Fernandez put in 1m56.593 s to leap to round‑one lead, only to be challenged moments later by Marquez’s 1m56.527 s. Bezzecchi, meanwhile, lowered the circuit record before Fernandez reclaimed the grid‑pole.
Soft‑tyre surge & Aprilia dominance
Fresh soft compounds proved decisive; Fernandez’s record‑shattering final run had him on a blistering 1m56.593 s, but Martin advanced from the back of the field to deliver a spectacular 1m56.160 s. Ao Ogura slid comfortably into third, completing an Aprilia front‑row lock‑out alongside Martin.
Full‑grid outcomes
Fabio di Giannantonio posted the best Ducati time at fourth, with Bezzecchi claiming fifth despite a damaged bodywork area late on. The Marquez brothers drifted away from the lead, Marc settling in sixth and Alex in seventh, both over three‑tenths off pole. Franco Morbidelli qualified eighth on a VR46 Ducati, with fellow Gresini rider Iker Lecuona reaching the top‑10 from Q1. Jack Miller and Joan Mir followed in ninth and tenth spots on Pramac and Honda machines.
Others cap it off
Fabio Quartararo missed Q2 by 0.050 s, ending up 13th to precede Diogo Moreira and Luca Marini in the Yamaha lineup. Francesco Bagnaia suffered his worst qualifying of the season, starting 16th, and was joined thereafter by Alex Rins (Yamaha), Brad Binder and Enea Bastianini (KTM). Cal Crutchlow took 20th on his LCR Honda, outpacing Maverick Vinales’ stand‑in Pol Espargaro, Pramac’s Toprak Razgatlioglu and Yamaha test rider Augusto Fernandez.
