The Mandalorian: everything we know about the second season

Baby Yoda and Mando will return to Disney + with a second season that already has a date, directors and surprises, such as the characters in the Skywalker saga.

Well yes, okay. The Mandalorian and Disney + may not have yet been released in Spain (both are expected for March 31, 2020), but at this point we all know Baby Yoda and have followed their misadventures based on gifs in the networks social. This new Star Wars series has become a true mass phenomenon during the first months of the platform's life and the mouse company intends to take advantage of it. A good example of this is that the second season is already underway … and will arrive at the end of 2020!

Star Wars: The Mandalorian

Far from having to wait a year or two, as in the case of The Witcher, Disney has been more anticipatory and the second season of The Mandalorian will leave just a few months after the premiere of the first in our country. Specifically, in the autumn of 2020. Its filming is already underway and will soon move on to the postproduction phase. This has been confirmed by the showrunner of the series, Jon Favreau, whom you will meet for making Harold “Happy” Hogan in the Iron Man and Spider Man movies, and for directing Disney's live action on The Jungle Book and The Lion King.

Characters from the Skywalker saga and more Baby Yoda

The year of departure is not the only thing we know about the “second season”. Media like Deadline have revealed some details about what we can expect from it, such as the appearance of several characters in the Skywalker saga. We may not have completely finished with Rey, Poe and company. The same goes for the figure of Baby Yoda, whose past and origin is expected to know much more in the future. In turn, about the directors who will be in charge of the next eight episodes of Mando, there is also the odd name on the table. Among them is that of Favreau himself, who obviously repeats as a screenwriter and director; that of Carl Wathers, who plays Greef Karga in the first season, one of the villains; and even that of Rian Johnson, director of Star Wars: The Last Jedi, who has assured that he will participate if his schedule allows. It is worth remembering that in the first one we had behind the cameras figures like Taika Waititi (director of Thor: Ragnarok and Jojo Rabbit) and Bryce Dallas Howard (protagonist of Jurassic World).

Little more can be unveiled from the second season of The Mandalorian without going into spoilers about its final episode, which we will wait for it to be released in Spain to analyze and retaliate. Until then, may the force be with you.
