Hamilton parked the Red Bull under Leclerc’s line at Turn 1, then weaved out of the outside of Turn 2, falling into the gravel and dropping from the forefront to 10th.
On lap 2, while Leclerc defended against McLaren’s Oscar Piastri, he clipped the kerb exiting Parabolica, lost control, and collided with the barriers, ending the race for the Ferrari.
Montoya’s call for oversight
After the race, former F1 driver Juan Pablo Montoya urged Ferrari’s senior hierarchy—Fred Vasseur and those above him—to convene with both Hamilton and Leclerc before the upcoming Spanish Grand Prix in Madrid.
“A teammate must earn respect,” Montoya said on F1 TV. “Charles approached racing as he would any rival, but ultimately he’s a teammate and the team must be respected.”

Mercedes stormed to a dominant 1‑2 finish, with Kimi Antonelli’s surge from 19th proving decisive. Hamilton slid to 10 points behind George Russell, while Leclerc settled in fifth with 155 points, trailing Antonelli by 112.
