At the Austrian Grand Prix, Razgatlioglu felt the bike spin for five laps before any traction developed, prompting him to entertain the option of retiring. He said, “I was shocked. I just felt no grip at the start and the bike was spinning.” His comments highlight the problem of a stiffer rear carcass that Michelin introduced to handle the tyre load at Spielberg.
Qualifying and race results reveal a deficit
Forty‑six seconds separated Razgatlioglu from the winner, Pedro Acosta, as the Turkish rider started from 22nd place—a position he earned after being two seconds shy of the pace in qualifying. He finished 20th, outside the points, in a performance that mirrors the helplessness the V4‑powered M1 has displayed on every circuit.
Worsening Yamaha slump and rider frustration
“This is the second worst race in my life,” Razgatlioglu told the press, recalling Thailand as the first. Yamaha’s slump has deepened with the prospective 2026 switch to a new V4 engine, and season‑long criticism has also come from former champion Fabio Quartararo, who accused the team of little progress.
