Red Bull Racing has locked in 21‑year‑old Isack Hadjar through 2027, giving the rookie a second season beside Max Verstappen.
Contract secured for 2027
After a debut season with sister squad Racing Bulls in 2025, Hadjar earned a promotion to the main team for 2026. Although initial reports suggested a single‑year deal, the club confirmed at the Azerbaijan Grand Prix that it has activated its option to keep him for 2027.
From rookie podium to teammate
Hadjar impressed early in 2025 with a podium at Zandvoort, earning a spot in the Red Bull works lineup. In 2026 he has already finished eighth in the championship, collecting 71 points despite missing the final three races due to injury. His second career podium came at Monaco in June.
Mekies clarifies the contract question
When the driver replied “I don’t know” to a media query about his contract length, team principal Laurent Mekies explained that Hadjar’s “very long‑term contract” is part of the junior programme and that Red Bull has secured him through 2027.
Progress and the road ahead
Mekies praised Hadjar’s “natural speed” and the rapid integration he made into the UK camp. He added that the driver has consistently improved race‑weekend performance and is expected to keep sharpening his pace, technical feedback and maturity. As Verstappen holds a 12‑point qualifying advantage and 145 points to Hadjar’s 71, the younger teammate must accelerate his progress if the pair are to close the gap.
