Isack Hadjar secured a podium on his return to the Azerbaijan Grand Prix, finishing third with a wrist still lacking full mobility.
Wrist injury keeps the driver in the shadows
During the Beyond The Grid podcast filmed at the Baku City Circuit, the 22‑year‑old admitted, “Good enough.” After a fracture sustained over the summer break, he was forced to miss the Dutch, Italian and Spanish Grands Prix.
He spent the hiatus “on the couch,” where he earned a Monaco podium and a renewed contract with Red Bull Racing. “I’m not here for a wild card or anything. I’m here for the long term and to have the trust of the team during this tough period for me, I’m very grateful,” he said.
Road to the podium after a summer setback
Hadjar felt a sharp pain and limited motion the day after the crash, an unexpected issue, as he had “never broken anything in my whole life.” The team’s assessment set a recovery window that kept him out for months.
Back in the car after a simulation day of over 100 laps, he noted that “the priority for me is the feeling I have in the car and the pain.” He added he had no plan to alter his steering wheel, preferring to adapt to the current setup.
