Sheldon Creed will depart the Haas Factory Team after the 2026 season and will begin a multi‑year drive for Sam Hunt Racing in the No. 26 Toyota Supra.
Creed’s 2027 Transition
Creed, who led the standings for Haas with three victories, announced that he will join Sam Hunt Racing once the current season ends.
The contract places him alongside crew chief Kris Bowen in a team that has been expanding its roster.
He is slated to replace Dean Thompson, who will join Haas as a third‑car driver from 2027.
Haas’ 2027 Car Expansion
Haas Factory Team has confirmed a three‑car structure beginning in 2027, positioning Dean Thompson as the new No. 00 driver.
The expansion follows the exits of both Sam Mayer (No. 41) and Sheldon Creed, both of whom are moving on to other organizations.
Haas remains focused on competition in the 2026 championship while the 2027 driver lineup is still being finalized.
Creed’s Racing Footprint
Creed’s career includes stints with Richard Childress Racing (2022–23), Joe Gibbs Racing (2024), and Haas (2025–26).
He is a 2020 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series champion and has claimed three wins in the 2026 NASCAR O’Reilly Series.
Despite the move not being his first choice, Creed said business realities shaped the decision.
Haas Factory Statement
“Sheldon Creed and HFT will part ways at the end of the 2026 NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts season,” the team released.
Haas thanked him for his dedication and highlighted his three victories for the organization.
The No. 00 team will keep hunting for wins in 2026 as the 2027 lineup remains undecided.
Sam Hunt Racing’s Reaction
Sam Hunt, owner and president of the new team, praised Creed’s talent, personality, and humanity.
“Creed’s fit every category I look for,” Hunt remarked, adding that the driver is “a winner, a rockstar husband, father, and friend.”
Creed expressed excitement about continuing to grow an organization he has followed for years and described the team as a “home.”
