Disintegration: keys to its history, gameplay and more

The work of V1 Interactive and Private Division, Disintegration, presents two betas (closed and open) and its director offers us new details.

Marcus Lehto, the co-creator of Halo, invites us to a live conference where we can ask you various details about Disintegration, the title of V1 Interactive and Private Division that will have a closed beta phase and an open beta at the end of this month of January. Over more than an hour, he explains the dynamics they have within the development team, the plot and playable approach of the game and much more.

A more intimate project, where everyone has a voice

Lehto reminds us that much of the V1 Interactive team comes from large Triple A development studios such as Bungie, so they have plenty of experience behind them. Even so, the point came when they decided to change course and form their own studio with the aim of creating smaller projects with small teams in which everyone has something to contribute:

“For us it is important that each team member contribute their own vision to the project and it is taken into account. We are currently about 30 people in V1 Interactive and we all actively participate in the development and approach of Disintegration. ”

By his way of speaking and what he tells us, we can see how Marcus Lehto is one of those leaders who do not like to be under the spotlight and take all the merit of a team made up of various professionals who every day work hard to get The game on. In addition, the president and director of Disintegration ensures that his team does not go through intense times of crunch:

"In V1 Interactive we value the quality of life of our developers, so we have a somewhat more relaxed schedule in order to ensure that everyone can return to their homes every day."

Disintegration argument

The narrative is an important section in Disintegration or so Marcus Lehto promises us. The title has a Campaign mode that will place us in a dystopian future in which the human species is practically extinct. In order to avoid the total disappearance of humans, a project called “Integration” is developed, which consists in extracting the brain of human beings in order to place it in very advanced robotic frameworks.

From this new class are born the so-called Rayonne, a group that is dedicated to persecuting those who oppose change and prefer to preserve their humanity before surrendering themselves completely to the robotic essence. Led by "Black Shock", the main antagonist of the game, will be the enemy force against which we will have to fight. As you can imagine, our protagonist, Roger Shoal, is part of a Resistance group that strives to liberate humanity again and expand the limits of individual freedom, as long as each one decides how they want to live and the impositions of the Rayonne don't end all of them.

“I love great stories and universes. The plot we have developed for Disintegration has an approach, knot and outcome so yes, you will have a good story. ”

By asking Marcus Lehto about the story's approach, he ensures that we will have enough content to play an extensive campaign and that it will be worth it, with well-built characters and surprises in the script. In addition, it details that the universe they have built for Disintegration goes beyond the limits of this first title, so they start this adventure with the promise that, if possible, they will give continuity later and could become a saga

A commander who "plays chess"

The playable part of Disintegration is the strong commitment that V1 Interactive puts on the table in terms of innovation. Although at first glance it may seem like another shooter, the game has several layers of depth that are better understood by having it at the controls. To begin with, real-time strategy is an essential component in the mix of the title, since we will have under our command a group of robots (from 2 to 5) to which we command by giving them orders to attack, defend and others. These units act independently and coordinate among themselves to perform various actions while the protagonist looks for the right place to open fire:

"It's like if you were playing chess and had to move a series of chips to win," says the director by way of comparison.

As for mobility, our character is mounted on a gravicycle. It is a quad-engine vehicle with the ability to fly that we can drive from the air in order to have a clearer view of the pitch. Each gravicil has a large number of customization options and its own statistics such as speed, armor capacity and others. Thanks to this, there are several models to adapt to the experience of each player: some have simpler characteristics and others, on the other hand, require that we have more experience at the controls.

3 multiplayer launch modes

Disintegration will have 3 multiplayer launch modes: "Zone Control", "Retriever" and "Collector". The first two are those that we have already played on numerous occasions (zone control and retrieve the flag), but it is the third that proposes something different. As the director of the title tells us, it is a kind of “slayer” mode, but we have not yet been able to see it in motion.

Apparently, we will not be able to design our playable character in detail, but we will have up to 9 different crew models, each with a unique personality, particular abilities and special weapons. An example is "Neon Dreams", a class that enhances fast and stealthy attacks and has a cyberpunk look. Another example is "Warhedz," a crew with a Mad Max style that can execute powerful devastating attacks.

In addition, within these crews there are various roles such as attacker, defender or healer that we will have to combine with the rest of the team in order to rise with victory. It seems that at the moment players will not be able to create custom builds, but they will have at their disposal various skills in order to master them.

Although at first it may seem all too complicated, since V1 Interactive ensure that they have endeavored to create a title easy to understand and dominate by all types of players. In campaign mode it has 4 different difficulty modes provided that each player can choose the one that best suits their style of play and abilities. As for the online, we still do not know too many details, but it is something that we can get out of doubt thanks to the Beta Phases that will take place at the end of the month.

Phases of Betas, closed and open, to prove the title

The closed technical beta of Disintegration will take place from January 28 to 29 and all players with a code may enter. The rest, you can try the game a few days later (from January 31 to February 1), at which time the open Beta will be available to all those who are curious about the proposal. In the Betas period, 2 of the 3 game modes (Zone Control and Retriever) and 6 of the 9 available crews can be tested.

The objective of these beta phases is to perform a “stress test” of the game in order to check how many players fit on the same server, if errors arise and what type they are in order to solve them and, ultimately, ensure that the title is ready to face the final stretch before its launch. We still have no release date set, but we do know what it will be this year 2020 and that we will soon have more details about it. The platforms on which it will land are PS4, Xbox One and PC.

From what we have seen and have told us, it is a game that promises to offer a somewhat different proposal and will risk taking it forward. A strategic first-person shooter that will have an interesting history and a great universe created by a passionate team, which aim to take Disintegration beyond its initial limits.
