Need for Speed: Heat – January update including steering wheel support

Playfront

EA and Ghost Games have released the January update for 'Need for Speed: Heat', which brings a few interesting features to the game, including steering wheel support.

From the end of this month you can connect your own steering wheel to play Need for Speed Heat with it. The following models were tested, but this does not mean that others could not work:

  • Thrustmaster T300RS (PS4, PC)
  • Thrustmaster TX (Xbox, PC)
  • Thrustmaster T150 (PS4, PC)
  • Thrustmaster TMX (Xbox, PC)
  • Logitech G29 (PS4, PC)
  • Logitech G920 (Xbox, PC)
  • Fanatec CSL Elite Racing Wheel (PS4, PC, XB1)

Make sure that you connect your equipment before starting the game and make sure that your steering wheel is assigned to your user profile.

Chat wheel

Also new will be the chat wheel, which is based on the emote wheel from Need for Speed Payback. Instead of emotes, you can use it to send pre-made messages to crew members and rivals in the game session.

Ask other racers to follow you, challenge them to races or congratulate them on their driving skills. You can now communicate with friends at the touch of a button, even if you're not in voice chat.

Key to the card

The name says it all – the keys to the card reveal the secrets of Palm City. You can buy them with real money to instantly reveal the positions of collectibles, activities and petrol stations on the in-game card.

The keys to the map do not complete any activities for you or collect street art, but they do tell you where all of these things can be found. So you no longer have to go off the gas to explore the world. In addition, you get instant access to all hiding places except one that will be unlocked throughout the story.

General improvements

The feedback from the players included some suggestions that will be implemented in the January update. If you drive through a gas station, paint damage is now repaired and scratches removed. Some players have also noted that using manual controls can make it too easy to accidentally start an event or go back to the garage after you've just left it. To prevent this, we change the input settings so that you no longer just have to press the corresponding key, but instead have to hold it down to carry out an action.

All changes in the January update will then follow with the full patch notes.
