A user creates a mod on Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain to bring PS2’s celebrated Snake Eater back to life with current technology.

Remakes and remasters of games from the past are becoming increasingly popular with large companies and users who want to relive experiences of yesteryear with current technologies. And some of the most requested remakes or reimagines are the classic installments of the Metal Gear Solid saga. Now, and in the absence of any news about the future of the Konami franchise, a user has started a project with which he intends to recover Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater as a mod for Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain. And the result couldn’t be more promising.

Hope to offer a demo soon

Thus, the Reddit user known as BeesWX is working on the recreation of the celebrated third installment of Metal Gear Solid under the Fox Engine, used for the fifth numbered part of the action and stealth saga. And as can be seen in the screenshots shared by the creator, the jungle aspect of the Snake Eater universe has been successfully transferred to Metal Gear Solid V; and that the project is in the first stages of development.

According to the author of the mod himself, the pace of development is good enough to offer a demo as soon as possible, so that users of the original game can try this new version. Of course, those who played the third part in its day will quickly notice that the control of Snake responds to the most recent delivery, since it is still a mod made on Metal Gear Solid V.

Users interested in this Snake Eater mod can follow its evolution through their own Discord channel, where its author updates periodically with each new development progress. We will see if Konami decides on this project, since large companies do not tend to look favorably on this type of initiative.
