The battle royale from the creators of Titanfall 2 and Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order does not yet have that feature.
Fortnite, one of the Apex Legends competitors and the most successful game in the genre, opened the door to cross-console gaming. To date, Sony had resisted it, but the Japanese company decided to take a step back. Since then, there have been many titles that have offered such functionality, including Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and Warzone. However, Respawn Entertainment's battle royale has not implemented that feature. Still, the studio is fully aware of its importance, as stated by Dusty Welch, general manager of Apex Legends.
He did it in an interview with Game Informer, which collects Eurogamer. "I think crossplay is something expected in the industry and an important aspect for a game like ours," Welch stresses. "Chad (Grenier, Apex Legends director) and myself are of course big fans of playing our title at work and in our spare time, so when we come home on Friday or the weekend we want to play together, but we are in different systems ”. The developer has clarified that he thinks this from a personal point of view, while pointing out that "it would be something important" for the future.
At the moment, there is no specific date for this to happen, although Apex Legends is a free-to-play title that expands and improves over time, so new features may be added in the coming times.
