Andrew Wilson, Executive Director of Electronic Arts, Announces $ 1 Million Donation to Organizations Fighting for Racial Justice in the US
Electronic Arts joins the numerous video game companies that have announced campaigns to support and donate to the black community in the United States in the wake of the social protests after “the tragic and absurd death of George Floyd at the hands of police officers, and that of many others before him, ”shares Andrew Wilson, CEO of EA. Thus, one of the company’s first steps is the donation of $ 1 million to organizations dedicated to fighting for real justice in the United States and against discrimination around the world.
$ 1 million donation for racial justice
“There is deep-rooted and unquestionably present discrimination against the African American / Black community. It is unacceptable. Racism should not exist in our society. We want to support all of our African American / Black partners and colleagues and their family and friends, as well as everyone who is willing to end this situation, ”Wilson continues through an official statement.

The $ 1 million donation will go to the Equal Justice Initiative and NAACP Legal Defense & Educational Fund, in addition to other organizations, to fight discrimination and protect human rights in the United States and beyond its borders. In addition, EA is also announcing a new program that will provide company workers with one paid day a year dedicated to volunteering in their community, bringing the number of hours in a year and worldwide to more than 75,000.
Freedom Day has also been announced for June 19 with another company-wide volunteer day, where EA employees will participate in virtual forums and activities for Black Electronic Arts Team employees. “Black people’s lives matter. Racial justice matters. Equality, inclusion and diversity have long been a fundamental part of the Electronic Arts belief system, ”concludes Wilson.
