Bethesda Softworks has decided to paralyze the plan for the fair, which was to take place in Texas, United States, this August.
Bethesda Softworks has decided to cancel QuakeCon 2020 for fear of the severity of the coronavirus (COVID-19). The North American company, with the aim of putting the health of employees, fans and other parties involved, thus suspends its plan to hold this annual meeting of fans of the id Software sagas.
The event, one of the largest LAN Parties in all of North America due to its volume of attendees and the media impact it has had for two decades, was to be held from August 6 to 9 at the Gaylord Texan Resort & Convention Center in Texas, U.S. In addition, this year's edition of QuakeCon was special since fans were able to host all the events related to the company's 25th anniversary celebration.
“We have made the difficult decision to cancel this year's QuakeCon. The health and safety of our employees, volunteers, vendors, sponsors and players will always be our main responsibility, ”they say in the note, issued this morning.
It is not the only video game event canceled in recent weeks. Coronavirus prevention measures carry confinement and responsibility. E3 2020, the GDC and PAX East have been affected by the pandemic and will not take place in 2021; yes in 2021, as confirmed by ESA. Bethesda Software is now looking for a way to celebrate "the spirit of QuakeCon" in August. We do not know if they will opt for a derivative coverage in digital format. In 2021, if nothing prevents it, there will be QuakeCon.
DOOM Eternal is "excellent": now available
However, there is nothing to prevent DOOM Eternal from being available to us around the world. The latest great id Sofware video game is now available on PS4, Xbox One and PC (coming soon to Nintendo Switch) and it has taken an outstanding note on FreeGameTips; rated as one of the best first-person shooter video games we have been with for generations. "There are other good and good shooters on the market, to be sure, but none get the adrenaline rush that is Eternal's deadly dance," says our analyst, Sergi Blanch.
