For a few days now there have been reports of ‘Resident Evil 8’, which is currently being worked on at Capcom and is due to appear in 2021.
Accordingly, it continues to follow the direction change of the series that Capcom has taken with Resident Evil 7, even if the details have not yet been confirmed. What was also extremely popular with Resident Evil 7 was the PlayStation VR support, which may return to RE8. One would like to have learned this from sources near Capcom, which are involved in the development.
VR exception title
To date, Resident Evil 7 is almost the only real triple-A blockbuster that fully supported Sony’s VR headset before the hype gradually waned. The fact that the VR feature is back in Resident Evil 8 is also supported by rumors that the game will be played again in the first-person view.
Should Resident Evil 8 actually support Sony’s VR headset again, it would be conceivable that the potential successor to the headset (PSVR2) is also compatible. This would at least have a real driving force for the technology that is urgently needed.
Resident Evil 8 is said to be released in early 2021 for PS5 and PS4.
