The launch of The Witcher series on Netflix and Star Wars: Rise of Skywalker in the cinema also affect the current numbers of the last games.
So there is a significantly higher interest in Star Wars: Battlefront II, the number of players of which is again at the level of January 2018, i.e. shortly after the release of the game. Franchise Design Director for Star Wars Battlefront, Dennis Brännvall, confirms this today on Twitter, which impresses him personally.
Fun one, we're now beating our weekly player numbers going back to January 2018. Not quite launch numbers but still very impressive #battlefront

The current Star Wars game by Respawn (our review) should also benefit from the current movie, even if the game is already very successful in its own right and a successor has apparently already been decided.
The Witcher 3 also popular again
The Witcher 3 is also currently showing higher player numbers, which should be thanks to the start of the Netflix series. Almost 50,000 players have been recorded on Steam these days, the best value since summer 2016, when the last DLC was released. In addition, there is also increased interest on the PS4 and Xbox One, which should lead to around a million players who plunge again into the fantasy RPG.
It is doubtful whether this success will continue in the long term. As there is such hype, it will eventually be over.
