Star Wars IX shows a concept image of this brutal deleted scene from Chewbacca

Han Solo’s inseparable partner was going to be tortured by Kylo Ren in the movie, but that idea was later removed.

In Star Wars Episode IX: The Rise of Skywalker, there is a moment in which Rey and company think that Chewbacca has died precisely at the hands of the woman, who in a moment of anger inadvertently throws lightning from her hands and explodes, in appearance, the ship in which the Wookiee is imprisoned. Ryan Church, one of the film’s conceptual artists, has shown through Twitter an art that reflects the torture of Chewie by Kylo Ren, a scene that never appeared in the film.

“In the script, this moment was a bit fuzzy,” he writes on Twitter. “I chose a camera angle, composition and gestures that say all there is to be said about the relationship here: it could have been one of the most intense and significant moments in the film.” When it comes to composition, “Chewie’s shape and chains form an arrow pointing directly at Kylo’s head.”

The return of an old villain

In The Rise of Skywalker, the protagonists later discover that Chewbacca is still alive on Kylo Ren’s ship. It is then that they decide to rescue him from the clutches of the First Order, where the Resistance has a spy. The situation, however, is more serious than it seems, because on Exogol, a planet linked to the Sith, an ancient enemy rises again. Sheev Palpatine, the first emperor of the Galactic Empire, has survived death thanks to cloning. For years he has been orchestrating a plan to return to power and dominate the galaxy once again.

The cinematic future of Star Wars goes through stories far from the Skywalker Saga. Patty Jenkins, director of Wonder Woman, prepares a film focused on the Rogue Squadron (Rogue Squadron), while Taita Waititi has another film in the works. The Rian Johnson trilogy continues, although with no date set yet.
