Even though the lightsaber is a powerful Jedi weapon, it rarely happens that you can break it up into numerous pieces. Also in the new, Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order 'this will not be possible, as one explains now.
The separation of body parts is in the Star Wars saga before, but this can be saved for very special moments, as Narrative Lead Aaron Contreras explains. Since you wanted to have an authentic Star Wars experience with Jedi: Fallen Order, you also had to consider that.
"With Jedi: Fallen Order, we've really been following the authentic recognition of the dismemberment of Star Wars / Lucasfilm. This happens occasionally in big story moments, but you do not see it happening to constantly sentient people. "
There are exceptions for droid & Co., which can be taken apart in masses. There is also less emotional attachment here than real characters.
"Droids and creatures you fight are often dismembered, but otherwise we'll save it for big moments."
Contreras points out in this context that they have worked closely with Lucas Arts to do justice to their vision of Star Wars, the lightsaber and so on.
Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order will be released next week.
