Star Wars Kenobi series: Ewan McGregor confirms when and where to shoot

The Disney + limited series, which will use the same technology as The Mandalorian, has not yet started shooting.

Ten years after the events narrated in the movie Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith, Obi-Wan Kenobi will star in a new adventure. Much has been said about when the filming of Kenobi, the new Disney + limited series, will begin. Although supposed images of the studio appeared in England, published by The Sun, it was Ewan McGregor himself who has uncovered when and where the series will be recorded.

In an interview with Eddie Izzard, the actor has made fun of the fact that from time to time some news appears in the tabloids, which in the end turns out to be false. McGregor has reported that filming will begin in late spring in Los Angeles.

Same technology as The Mandalorian

On the other hand, he has declared himself a follower of The Mandalorian, the first live action series based on the universe created by George Lucas. He has described it as “brilliant” and has commented that he likes the western touch of which it shows. How could it be otherwise, Kenobi will use the same technology used in the fiction starring Din Djarin, Stagecraft:

“I’m excited because the technology is so much more advanced than before,” so they won’t have to use as much blue screen. In fact, if they follow The Mandalorian guidelines, they will record with numerous real elements, mostly in the studio. Using the Unreal Engine, Stagecraft allows you to visualize how the scene looks while it is being shot.

Star Wars begins a new audiovisual stage with new movies and series. Kenobi does not have a release date yet, but it has already been confirmed that Hayden Christensen will play Darth Vader. Andor, the serial prequel to Rogue One starring Diego Luna, is the most advanced production along with The Bad Batch, a new animated series, spin-off of Clone Wars. Beyond, on a more distant horizon, you can see The Acolyte, Ashoka, Rangers of the New Republic or Star Wars: Rogue Squadron, among other products.
