The process, although somewhat complicated, allows users who do not have a virtual reality headset to enjoy the Valve game.

The Half-Life: Alyx gaming community is working on different mods to be able to run and enjoy the Valve video game without the need for a virtual reality headset. The company, which has already warned of its will to leave the doors open to modders for these purposes, has released the first mod with which to be able to do without a peripheral and, therefore, open the range of possible players enormously.

From r57zone they have published a seven-minute video tutorial where they explain how to install the mod and install it to work in Half-Life: Alyx. The process, although complex, will evolve over time, as other mods are developed to modify the title and allow – although part of its gameplay is lost along the way – to play the acclaimed title without the need for glasses.

Robin Walker, designer at Valve, indicated weeks ago (and encouraged) that the community should be encouraged to work on this possibility, since they themselves will be able to learn how this experience is transferred to a normal environment without VR; although in their plans it does not happen to enable this option officially.

General consensus: an outstanding video game

International specialized criticism and that of the gaming community has ruled on portals like Metacritic that we are dealing with an outstanding video game. With an average of 93 out of 100 on said portal, we are facing one of the best-rated titles of 2020; only behind Persona 5 Royal.

In fact, FreeGameTips has taken the category of masterpiece by receiving a 10 out of 10. According to our Reviews: “Half-Life: Alyx is the living history of the video game. A title that deserves to be played now and not later, a title that in the current context is unmatched. Like Ocarina of Time, Goldeneye and countless other titles, it is possible that with the passage of time it loses part of its present five years. A title that, according to those who have played it, will transcend over the years for what it meant today for virtual reality in video games.
