Valorant takes stock of the closed beta; new trailer and unpublished art

The title of Riot Games will come out on June 2 on PC under a free-to-play model and with news regarding the beta.

Summer Game Fest was the stage chosen by Riot Games to announce that the final version of Valorant will be released on June 2 on PC. After the closed beta, the title will add a new game mode, a new agent and a new map, elements that still remain a secret. However, the North American developer has not stopped and has just hung a new trailer, which you can see in this same news. Additionally, the company has unveiled a new concept art and valued beta performance.

Concept art (above) is designed by Thiago GutiƩrrez, director of marketing for Valorant and drawn by Suke, an artist at Riot for years. It is based on the first episode of Valorant, Ignition (available at launch), and as you can see, it has a style inspired by the Star Wars, Indiana Jones and Harry Potter posters. They all use a technique started by Drew Struzan.

The beta numbers

Over the two-month trial period, 3 million players (average) have logged in daily to play Valorant worldwide. From the beginning, Riot has emphasized the importance of streaming. In fact, the only way to access the beta was through the views of this content. Translated into figures, more than 470 million hours have been seen in Valorant games, both through Twitch and Afreeca TV (South Korea). As if that were not enough, the Riot Games shooter achieved a record on April 7. For the first time, 34 million views were reached in a single day. On the other hand, the peak of viewers has been 1.7 million on Twitch.

"We are amazed at the level of enthusiasm, passion and support that we are seeing from the Valorant community in these days leading up to the launch," said Anna Donlon, executive producer of Valorant. "Our hope as a team was that our work and effort over the years would serve to gain the trust and respect of the tactical shooter community, and we can't wait to get this started on June 2."

The coronavirus crisis has affected the video game industry and developers, who in many cases have been forced to work from home. To do this, companies have had to adapt their technology and security systems, something that has presented many challenges. Despite all those challenges, Riot are happy to have been able to successfully launch the beta in Brazil, Europe, Latin America, the United States, Russia and Turkey.
