Fumihiko Yasuda, director of Nioh 2, knows that he knows the desire that fans have for the return of such a beloved franchise.

Team Ninja wants the Ninja Gaiden saga to return. Fumihiko Yasuda, director of the last title developed by the Japanese studio, Nioh 2, has recognized in a meeting with IGN that he and other team members share the desire of fans to bring back this beloved license.

"The main members of the team that worked on Ninja Gaiden want a new installment," he begins by saying bluntly. “We are aware that there are fans who prefer a new Ninja Gaiden to Nioh 2. Currently, we are watching many ninja games (like Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice in 2019); and we found great sources of inspiration for those games, so we hope to be able to give you good news someday. ”

The Ninja Gaiden seal: difficulty as a rule

Although Yasuda does not confirm the development of a new installment of Ninja Gaiden, he does record the will to make Ryo Hayabusha's adventures return. Perhaps, already in a next generation of consoles marked by the names of PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X.

Although the creative Japanese only refers to Sekiro, from From Software, in his encounter with the American media, the truth is that there are more AAA category ninja games planned for the coming times, not just Nioh 2, as is Ghost of Tsushima, from Sucker Punch for PlayStation this year 2020.

The last approach of the Ninja Gaiden saga with the video game industry dates back to 2012 with Ninja Gaiden 3, if we do not count that spin off in 2014 that came under the name of Yaiba: Ninja Gaiden Z. The backward compatibility of the console family Xbox One has allowed both new fans and lovers of the saga of yesteryear to now experience the idiosyncrasy of Ninja Gaiden Black in 4K resolution and 60 FPS.

The future, still uncertain, leaves only one certainty: Nioh 2, co-developed with Koei Tecmo, will be released exclusively for PlayStation 4 this March 13. In FreeGameTips, we have already played the title in its final version: we tell you here what we thought.
