Some of the games will arrive in English for the first time

Arc System Works has announced that Kunio-Kun: The World Classics Collection will arrive in the west on February 20 for PS4 and Nintendo Switch. Some months ago, this attractive compilation that included 18 of the jewels of the golden age of Technos for NES was released in Japan for Switch. Although focused on the Kunio-Kun saga and all its spin offs, it also includes the excellent conversions of Double Dragon for the 8-bit Nintendo, with that fantastic second part that many consider better than recreational – something that was not easy to see at that time.

A legendary saga

It is not known, at the moment, details about the price or if there will be physical edition -as happened in Japan-. Yes it is confirmed that 11 of those games, which never left Japan, will arrive for the first time translated into English, which will allow us to play fun sports deliveries such as: Nekketsu Kōkō Dodgeball Bu: Soccer Hen, where we will measure to our rivals playing prisoner ball or Downtown Nekketsu Kōshinkyoku: Soreyuke Daiundōkai, in which we will do the same through brown sports competitions.

Kunio-Kun's history in the west is somewhat sinuous. The first installment, of street fighting, arrived here under the name of "Renegade", while the third part and the first one exclusively designed for consoles did it under the name of River City Ransom, a revolutionary game in which street elements were combined brawler with elements of role and open world, in what would be the spiritual ancestor of the Yakuza saga. The set of games in the series is very heterogeneous, so most did not get out of Japan until now. The saga also had a new iteration in 2019: River City Girls, run by Wayforward, which received good reviews.
