Sam Raimi (Spider-Man trilogy) negotiates the direction of Doctor Strange 2

The filmmaker could direct the sequel Multiverse of Madness to Marvel Studios after his experience with the first three adaptations of Sony's Spider-Man

Sam Raimi, the famous director of the original Spider-Man trilogy of Sony Pictures with Tobey McGuire as Spidey, could be chosen to handle the sequel to Doctor Strange for Marvel Studios. This was shared by Variety media, ensuring that the filmmaker is negotiating with Disney to direct Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, a film that recently lost the director of the first part, Scott Derrickson, for creative differences with Marvel Studios.

Marvel bets on a famous filmmaker

Thus, and after offering his different projects in recent years to unknown filmmakers, Marvel Studios would now be betting on hiring a consecrated director like Sam Raimi for the sequel to Marvel's supreme sorcerer, scheduled for May 7, 2021. If he were thus, it would be even more evident that Doctor Strange 2 would bet on a darker tone even close to terror, since Raimi has ample experience in that cinematographic genre.

Even so, Scott Derrickson would continue to be linked to the project as executive producer of the film. And it is that the production of the film should start this spring for its premiere next year and the direct relationship with WandaVision, one of the new UCM series for Disney + whose second half of the season (scheduled for this December) would serve in advance of what awaits us in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, with the presence of Wanda already as Scarlet Witch.

Benedict Cumberbatch continues as Doctor Strange along with other regulars of the franchise such as Benedict Wong or Chiwetel Ejiofor; however for this occasion there will be Rachel Adams as Christine Palmer.

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness opens in theaters on May 7, 2021, the year in which other Phase 4 films such as Shang-Chi and the Legend of the 10 Rings, Spider-Man 3 (provisional title) will also arrive and Thor: Love and Thunder.
