Hiroki, producer of Dragon Ball FighterZ: "We are aware of online problems"

Season 3 will come with several changes, new modes and other undisclosed secrets.

We interviewed Tomoko Hiroki, producer of Dragon Ball FighterZ who was responsible for announcing the drastic changes of the game for the third season of the title during the Red Bull Dragon Ball FighterZ World Tour, and scheduled for later this month with the arrival of Kefla As a new playable character. Hiroki contextualizes several of the elements presented on Saturday, although it takes us to future announcements to learn more details. This is the most interesting part of the conversation with her.

Will new movements be added to the characters?

The big change will be the arrival of the selection of three Z Assist per character. We will not implement new movements, but we do look at each fighter's movelist and think which attacks would fit well to be assist. Our priority is to be able to offer many more options to the players. We also want to make changes to make the game cooler, but we'll explain that in future announcements.

Are there any limitations when choosing the Z Assist? Or can we choose the one we want for each character without restrictions?

There are no limitations of this type: we do not think about making assist categories to have beams (for example, Goku and Black's kame), assist defensive, shoryus … What we do is take movements of the characters and add them as an option. It is clear that there are characters that will lend themselves to having beam that now they do not have but others will have other options. What we are looking for is that these movements change the combat dynamics and make the characters more unique.

Have you talked about a new mechanics for comebacks, is it a new addition or replaces / complements sparking?

It is a different system to Sparking. You can use sparking and the new system to be implemented. They are not correlated but we can use them at the same time, and it is something that we want to explain later but we hope it gives the players more hope to overcome a fight even if they only have one character available.

One of the great complaints of the community is the online game, both for the lag in some games and especially for the players who make ragequit (they go halfway) and there is no penalty. Are you working on any solution?

We are aware of the complaints of the players and of course we want to improve the online structure of the game; We will try to improve it. The changes of this season want to provide a better experience at playable level and we also want to move forward and do the best we have for the online. We will take into account all the comments we collect from users, obviously.

During the presentation we talked about new ways: Are you preparing new modes for a player, other extras, such as new scenarios or the news will focus especially on the competitive online …?

We are considering something that allows players to get closer to the game, we cannot give details because there are several things that we are still studying, but we hope to say something else in the future.
