DOOM Eternal – Impressions from the Battle Mode

Playfront

Bethesda today gives new impressions from the Battle Mode in ‘DOOM Eternal’, which was developed from scratch for the shooter.

In Battle Mode, 2-on-1 players compete, which was developed from scratch by id Software. A fully armed DOOM hunter battles two player-controlled demons and fights for survival in three intense rounds. He shifts the typical furious DOOM fighting style into a series of carefully designed arenas. Slayers and demons have the same task (flattening the other side), but differ significantly in the style of play.

You control a fully inflated slayer with all weapons, mods and chicanes. His equipment promises maximum efficiency in demon decimation. On top of that, DOOM Eternal gives it new maneuvers: swings quickly on poles and uses the double sprint to overrun unsuspecting demons out of the blue.

Similar to the campaign, it is crucial that you aggressively hunt for resources. As a slayer, you use your opponents unabashedly: Glory kills are good for your health, enemies burned off with flame spouts give you armor and if you fillet demons with a chainsaw, ammunition pops out. Steering the Slayer is only one side of the coin. In BATTLE MODE you also have the choice between five playable demons that allow your own strategies.

DOOM Eternal will be released this March.
