PSVR 2: Patent describes new Move Controller

If PlayStation VR 2 actually comes into existence, as is only speculated today, there will probably also be a new Move Controller. A current patent describes how this may work.

According to the patent, the said controller has finger tracking sensors which detect which player is currently operating the controller and the distance between the controller and yourself.

In the description you can read:

“This controller is carried on the hand of a user and includes several sensor units that capture the user's fingers and a sensor support unit that carries the sensor units. The sensor holder part supports the sensor units so that the distance between adjacent sensor units can be changed. ”

The patent also mentions a trigger on the top and a vertical stripe with the finger sensors. As soon as the player takes the controller in hand, the sensors are touched and recognized by the fingers.

A rough sketch shows how the controller will be constructed:

It all boils down to the controller working much more precisely than it is now. It is still unclear whether this patent will actually be used. So far, not even a new VR headset from Sony has been announced.
