Super Smash Bros. Ultimate does not plan to add more characters after the Fighters Pass Vol. 2

Masahiro Sakurai, director of the video game, reiterates that the characters are selected by Nintendo itself.

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate has another year ahead of content. The production directed by Masahiro Sakurai will add six new characters to the fighter squad of his wrestling title. It will do so thanks to the Fighters Pass Vol. 2, a second season pass that will include not only the fighters, but also stages, music and more additional content. However, the Japanese director has pointed out that after publishing all those characters they have no plans to launch a Fighters Pass Vol. 3. Nor is there any new delivery on the horizon.

"We announced that we would develop six more characters," new fighters who according to Sakurai are determined. "We do not plan to do more," he emphasizes. Therefore, unless Nintendo decides to take a new direction, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate will only add the fighters that are yet to come. After the debut of Byleth, last character of the previous pass, the identity of any of the next warriors who will join the contest has not been announced.

What Sakurai has revealed (and reiterated again) is that he is not in charge of choosing the characters. It is Nintendo itself that ultimately decides the fighters who go to the battlefield. In fact, the developer said there are too many Fire Emblem characters, as well as many fighters who use the sword as a weapon. Therefore, they have had to differentiate them with different fighting styles.

What is it and how much does the Fighters Pass Vol.2 cost?

Like the first volume, it is a paid DLC that opens the door to the arrival of the various characters provided. For a price of 24.99 euros, the player makes sure to receive all this content, although they can also be purchased separately. The Fighters Pass Vol. 1 included six characters (Banjo, Joker, Dragon Quest Hero, Terry Bogard and Byleth). The latter was accompanied by 11 musical themes, a new stage and a route for Byleth in Smash Arcade.

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate went on sale in December 2018 exclusively for Nintendo Switch.
