Nintendo promises constant content and events that coincide with parties marked on the calendar
One of the novelties of the extensive previous made in the latest Nintendo Direct of Animal Crossing: New Horizons is the announcement that there will be free downloadable content once the game begins to walk and players start their life on the desert island, next March 20. In particular, it has been pointed out that there will be special events according to the calendar date, the first one being "rabbit day", the same launch day and themed around Easter eggs – this year is April 12 -.
From there there will be events with additional content and special rewards that we can obtain. In fact, it has been pointed out that Pocket Camp users who buy New Horizons and register, will get a double reward in the two games, sitting a novel dynamic in the series in which both titles can be connected and have shared objects.

The truth is that the special events according to the calendar have been a constant of Animal Crossing even in its origins, with consoles like Gamecube that did not have an online functionality by default.
