Animal Crossing: New Horizons will allow transferring games between consoles in the future

Although in its launch it will not allow the saving of games in the cloud, the game will only backup the file on its servers.

After the Nintendo Direct held on February 20 exclusively for Animal Crossing: New Horizons, the Japanese company answered a lot of doubts regarding this ambitious new release for Nintendo Switch. However, the reference to fear and security of the games kept was still in the air. Now everything is much clearer.

Transfer of local saved games soon

First of all, remember what was already said this past Thursday: Nintendo will have a service for recovering saved games in case of console breakdown, theft or loss. To do this, you must be a member of Nintendo Switch Online and can be used only once.

The novelty comes now: initially we cannot transfer our game between several Nintendo Switch even if we have more than one console; something that generated many discrepancies among future Animal Crossing: New Horizons players. In the future, on a date yet to be determined, this option will be available.

Let's assume that we have two Nintendo Switch (a standard model to play at home and another Nintendo Switch Lite unit for when we come and go on public transport).

Unlike other games, which do allow this game to be exchanged locally — regardless of whether they allow saving games normally in the cloud or not, such as Pokémon Sword / Shield and Splatoon 2, which do not allow the second but the first— , with Animal Crossing: New Horizons the game will always be stored in the console. Soon we will know when the option of this local migration of saved games will be enabled.

It was also during the Nintendo Direct when we learned that the game will have free downloadable content, events and compatibility with amiibo beyond the first figures and cards; the figure will grow and the game will always be alive, with additional activities and content.

Finally, we remember that we already know how multiplayer mode will work, both local and online; added to the new special Nintendo Switch console with Animal Crossing motifs.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons will be launched exclusively for Nintendo Switch this March 20.
