One of the lawyers in the Weinstein case will help the women who sued Riot Games

The creators of League of Legends, TFT and Legends of Runeterra face a lawsuit for gender discrimination.

The representatives of the collective action against Riot Games (League of Legends, TFT, Legends of Runeterra) for the alleged case of gender discrimination within the company, Melanie McCracken, Jessica Negron and Gabriela Downie, will have the services of Genie Harrison, a women's rights lawyer known for her role in cases against the Weinstein Company. The accusations that removed the world of cinema in Hollywood and initiated the MeToo movement have once again targeted the situation of harassment and gender discrimination that women experience.

Genie Harrison will join the team of lawyer Joseph Lovretvich to discuss with the experts the alleged cases of discrimination, with the aim of finding a satisfactory solution. "These brave women have cried out against sexism and gender inequality, so I want to make sure they are fairly compensated," Harrison said.

“Our qualified analysts are already analyzing the payment data. We want to try to recover the compensation that is owed to the women of Riot Games and achieve institutional reform ”, all this to level the working conditions between men and women within the socio-labor environment.

More than 10 million dollars in compensation?

Riot Games agreed to pay $ 10 million to compensate more than 1000 women who were employed between 2014 and the date the agreement was closed. However, in recent hours it has been published that this figure may be raised to 400 million dollars, after the intervention of the Department of Fair Employment (DFEH) and the Division of Compliance with Labor Standards (DLSE). Even so, a representative of Riot Games has described it as simple “clickbait”.

Riot Games works on many products beyond League of Legends, its great PC success. The North American company recently launched the Legends of Runeterra beta and has another LOL spin-off on the market, TeamFight Tactics. For the future, they prepare video games of such disparate genres as the shooter, the fight or the Diablo-style action.
