Platinum Games announces Project G.G, new Hideki Kamiya game

As the Japanese studio promised, on February 26 they would reveal a new video game within Platinum4. First details confirmed.

The latest issue of Weekly Famitsu magazine has revealed, as promised, a new videogame within the Platinum4 project of Platinum Games: Project G.G. According to the first confirmed data, it is a game starring a superhero and directed by Hideki Kamiya; it will be the last title within the now already called "hero trilogy" of the creative.

Final for the "hero trilogy": Project G.G.

Because, in reality, Viewtiful Joe and The Wonderful 101 did have something to do with each other beyond aesthetic and phonetic similarities. Bayonetta's father is also in charge of being the main game designer of this new video game, whose final nomenclature will be announced later.

The pages of the magazine leave a small statement by Kamiya, who for a few months assumes the role of senior vice president of Platinum Games: "I am making this game as a director for a completely new title." No sequels: it is an original story, with an original character.

There are other familiar faces within Project G.G. Atsushi Inaba, executive vice president, has stated that "we are going to row against user expectations … in a good way." Kamiya expands by ensuring: “Where Viewtiful Joe is a Kamen Rider style, where a guy transforms into a hero; and where The Wonderful 1010 is more like a group of people becoming heroes, Project G.G is like the title of giant heroes. ”

They have not transcended details about the launch date or platforms on which it will be put up for sale.

Present and future of Platinum Games

Last January we learned that PlatinumGames had received a significant capital investment from Tencent Holdings; an agreement that was part of the search for the self-publishing of new video games in the future, without relying on large publishers.

The first known title of Platinum4, that project with its own website, was The Wonderful 101: Remastered through Kickstarter, although the game was already done. The micromanagement campaign is being a real success.

Kenichi Sato, CEO of the company, already said that 2020 was going to be "the beginning of a new stage" for Platinum Games. Regarding Bayonetta 3, we only know that it "progresses properly." His other project, Babylon’s Fall, is also under development as part of a Square Enix commission.
