Monster Hunter World: Iceborne exceeds 5 million units sold

The huge expansion of Monster Hunter World: Iceborne reaches 5 million units sold on PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One platforms.

Just a month ago we learned that Monster Hunter World had sold more than 15 million units and that Iceborne was already going for 4 million. In 30 days the expansion of the Capcom title has managed to add another million to that crypto, which is currently at 5 million units sold between digital sales and copies of the physical edition (only for Iceborne). This is a significant amount for an expansion, which confirms the great success of launching the game on consoles and later on PC.

Monster Hunter World continues to break records

In total, the Monster Hunter saga has sold more than 62 million units, as Capcom claims. As a curiosity, Monster Hunter Riders, the free title currently only available in Japan, has been downloaded 3 million times since its release in February 2020. As for Iceborne, we recall that the expansion came to PC on January after debuting on PS4 and Xbox One in September 2019.

According to Capcom, there are "plans to carry out a series of initiatives to further consolidate the franchise's position as a global brand." These plans include the next Hollywood movie starring Milla Jovovich. We should also note the post-launch support Capcom has provided for the game, which has helped the game grow.

The roadmap of the first half of 2020 indicates that from April all platforms will receive the new content in unison (until now it came first to consoles and then to PC). Some of the significant events are the arrival of the Safi’jiiva and the Stygian Zinogre on March 12, in addition to the return of a “fan favorite monster” in May.
