The HBO series based on The Last of Us franchise will not begin production until after the release of The Last of Us Part 2 on PS4.
The Last of Us series co-creator Neil Druckmann is currently busy with his duties as creative director for The Last of Us Part 2. We remember that the release date is already set for 2021, so The batteries will have to be put in order to get it ahead and on time. At the moment we do not have much information about it and the actors who will play Joel, Ellie and the rest are just assumptions and requests from the fans.

Craig Mazin, a contributor to Druckmann as series director, explains the situation in more detail in the latest episode of Mazin's weekly podcast, Scriptnotes: "We can't start right away because they are still finishing the second game, but we will be able to do it very soon. We've been talking about it for months and coming up with little plans and stuff. But we're going to dig deep, very soon, as soon as they finish their final work on the sequel. So I hope more exciting news will come on that front because it's something both of us we are looking forward to seeing on television. "
Mazin adds that he was not confident that The Last of Us could function as a feature film despite Druckmann having been developing the idea for a film adaptation of the game for a long time: "It is about developing a relationship over the course of a long travel, so it has to be a television series and that's it, "explains the writer. We recall that The Last of Us Part II will launch exclusively for PS4 on May 29.
