Streets of Rage 4 uncovers its physical editions on PS4 and Nintendo Switch

The classic Mega Drive saga returns with a new main installment, this time for current systems.

A classic returns, Streets of Rage returns. The legendary Sega Mega Drive franchise will return to hitting kicks and punches, and it will do so on PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and PC. However, Limited Run Games prepares several editions in physical format. It is not for less, it is a product with a retro aroma, the son of a time when games always came in their box to stores. Although compatible and Microsoft system users will not be able to enjoy them, Nintendo and Sony consoles will receive three different physical editions of Streets of Rage 4.

The Standard Edition will come with a reversible cover and copy of the video game, while the Classic Edition will include the above, as well as a SteelBook case. All in all, the jewel in the crown is the custom Mega Drive box, into which the rest of the boxes fit. Limited Run is also preparing a Limited Edition, of which nothing has yet been announced. The company has reported that the contents will be confirmed later.

Tuning of the saga

Streets of Rage 4, developed by Lizardcube, has old acquaintances among its protagonists. Axel, Blaze and Adam will conquer the streets and hit with all their might in this beat'em up that adapts all the action of the originals to the new times. Of course, without giving up its essence. The first change is seen in the graphics, which continue to be two-dimensional, although with renewed sprites. According to Ben Fiquet, artistic and creative director of the video game, “style is still respected”, as are “colors and characters”.

On the other hand, Jordi Asensio, designer of the title, explained that it is not about overmodernizing the saga. "You must understand the frustrations of that time period and find out whether they were due to technical limitations or your own ideas." According to him, they studied frame by frame different fighting titles to determine the aspects that they could implement in the video game.

Streets of Rage 4 will go on sale this spring, though it has no final release date yet.
