Mark Cerny, architect of the console, was in charge of announcing all the specifications of the new generation console from the Japanese.
PlayStation 5 starred in the news headlines yesterday with the announcement of its technical specifications, which were explained by its manager, Mark Cerny. The reactions have been diverse, but the members of Sony Worldwide Studios were quick to spread their own opinions, all of them very positive. Several of them refer to the SSD hard drive, which stands out for its great speed. That being the case, Kurt Margenau, director of Uncharted: The Lost Legacy, by Naughty Dog, has praised him on his personal Twitter account.
"People don't realize how big the leap can be when it comes to video game design, especially for first parties," he says in a Twitter message. According to the developer, this is the most notable advancement of his career. For his part, Anthony Newman, co-director of The Last of Us Part 2, has also highlighted the SSD as a very important element within the architecture of the console. "The PS5 SSD (and all the additional IO hardware) will be critical to changing the way we design video games, as limitations are removed" that have been around for the past two generations.
Cory Barlog, creative director of God of War at Sony Santa Monica, has put the touch of humor, since when speaking of limitations, Mark Cerny gave an example of the restart of the game starring Kratos. An infographic highlighted that axes consume more energy than a car, something that Barlog has responded in this way: "Yes, they definitely do."
Still tripping about this # PS5 SSD spec. Like, people don’t even know how big of a leap in terms of game design can be made, especially for 1st party that doesn’t have to design to lowest common denominator. By far the biggest leap in my career. Can't wait.

Most crucial part of the @cerny presentation imo. The SSD in the PS5 (and all the associated IO hardware) is going to fundamentally change how we design videogames by removing limitations we've been working around the last two gens. https://t.co/XDcj2BJ5gV

There are also external reactions
"This is very good. I am very excited about the IO. ” The words are from Randy Pitchford, CEO of Gearbox, the creators of Borderlands 3. Matt Phillips, formerly of Crytek and Traveller's Tale, is the director of Big Evil Corporation. This programmer with 15 years of experience, who has worked on 24 triple-A games for Nintendo, Microsoft and PlayStation consoles, has recalled that nobody in his field has ever used teraflops as a measure of any kind. "It just spreads the word, it doesn't make sense."
PlayStation 5 will go on sale later this year, as will Xbox Series X. Both have not yet revealed their final release date.
This is great stuff. I'm very excited about that I / O https://t.co/rRz5efceMJ

As a 15 year + games programmer with 24 triple-A titles released on every Nintendo, Microsoft, and PlayStation machine under the sun, neither I nor anyone else in my field has * ever * used "teraflop" as a unit of measurement of any kind . Just drop the word, it's utterly meaningless
