Most players currently hang on to the pure specifications of the PS5 and Xbox Series X, according to which the Microsoft console is the stronger, at least on paper. However, developers who actually work with the hardware come to a differentiated opinion.
As Kotaku found out in discussions with various developers, they were incredibly impressed by the PS5, even if the way Sony communicated the whole thing was somewhat disappointing. For example, Kotakus Jason Schreier says:
“What I hear from the people who actually work on these (next generation consoles) is that the Xbox Series X is not much more powerful than the PS5 despite this Teraflops number. Teraflops might be a useful measure of comparison in some ways, but ultimately it's a theoretical top speed. What I hear from developers is very different from what I see in Sony's marketing strategy. ”
However, the developers are still not allowed to talk about specific things about the PS5, which is why the hardware may seem a little disappointing at first glance. In some things, however, it is superior to the Xbox Series X.
"I've heard from at least three different people since the Cerny thing that the PS5 is in many ways the superior hardware, despite what we see in these spec sheets," said Schreier.
That's what Ready at Dawn says
The Order developer Ready at Dawn also sees the PS5 as exceptional hardware that represents a real revolution for them. For example, CTO Andrea Pessino writes that the PS5 will completely convince the players in the first few months.
"Within a year of launch, players will fully appreciate that the PlayStation 5 is one of the most revolutionary, most inspired home consoles ever developed, and they will feel silly when they have used energy to" Teraflops "and other similarly misunderstood specifications."
According to rumors, Ready at Dawn is currently working on a successor to their adventure game, which of course will be released for PS5.
Other developers, such as former Naughty Dog employees, are once again devoting themselves to the SSD and its importance in the PS5. Here it is primarily the details that make it possible, be it the visual distance or the bark on trees, which can be shown in more detail.
Just saw the new @PlayStation # PS5 presentation. Great job @cerny! Since I routinely have to explain to people why I'm excited for an SSD for rendering I thought I'd write a little thread to explain. Case in point: Uncharted 1 to Last of Us transition: pic.twitter.com/4Q75NEuigy

Video Game Composer Dale North and Olivier JT go back to the Tempest Engine, which is supposed to provide a completely new audio experience on the PS5. For them, the 3D audio feature is a dream come true and only Sony has so far had the courage to rely on dedicated hardware.
Let's say as it is:
Only Sony has the guts & tech range to create a dedicated audio hardware.
This takes me back in 2014, when I visited Sony 3D Audio team and demoed their tech, touched to my core (I cried)
And they have been pushing much further for Ps5.

Environments, objects, and locations can have their own sound and music, and when they move, the sound moves, as does its response to nearby objects / surfaces. As in real life, the sound bounces through corridors, around corners, through walls and under surfaces. The Tempest Engine is a powerful tool.
As a player, you will probably have to be patient to see both consoles in action and to see their performance for yourself.
