Coronavirus: Nintendo confesses that Animal Crossing: New Horizons DLC could be delayed

The Japanese company is aware of the magnitude of the crisis and does not rule out the possibility that COVID-19 alters its road map.

The deserted islands of Animal Crossing: New Horizons are no stranger to the influence of the coronavirus (COVID-19), which has broken into the world with force. With several countries on alert and production partially stopped in several places, the video game industry has undoubtedly been affected by the circumstances, although the different developers have opted for teleworking. In an interview with the Washington Post, Nintendo has acknowledged that although development continues, the post-launch content of the new Animal Crossing may be delayed. Aya Kyogoku, director of the video game, said it:

"We are not sure if we are going to have to change something, but I think we should be flexible." The same is the opinion of the producer Hisashi Nogomi, who in statements to the same newspaper, added the following: "As regards the development team, I have to think about their health and well-being too." As you can see, anything can happen, but for now, with the game on the market, there are still plenty of content for the player to enjoy.

Shortly before launch, Nintendo released one of its Direct, this time focusing on Animal Crossing: New Horizons. That scenario was chosen to announce that the title would receive free DLCs, with new events and items. The work began its development before the Nintendo Switch even existed, so the team did not know the technical characteristics of the hardware.

Why do different voices sound depending on the version?

These cute little Nintendo animals share many things between versions, but not their voices. The Japanese version sounds different than the western one. The reason was explained in Polygon. And it is that despite the fact that the language is fictitious, the decision is due to the fact that languages share cultural traits, as well as a different prosody. In this way, the way of speaking of the characters in Japan is more familiar to Japanese users.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons is available exclusively for Nintendo Switch. Production has entered the market with a steady pace, as at least in the United Kingdom it has achieved excellent sales.
