Konami on the return of Silent Hill: "The rumors are false"

The Japanese company denies the information that has been released recently, although it does not close the door to new chapters in the future.

That if Sony had taken the rights to the franchise, that if Kojima Productions was reviving the Silent Hills project … there have been many comments that have appeared on websites and social networks about the future of the Konami saga. However, the Japanese company has come out in the wrong language and has denied the information that has been published in this regard. Through a brief statement, collected by Rely on Horror, the Metal Gear Solid company has said that the rumors are not true, although it does not rule out the return of its survival horror, Silent Hill.

"We are aware of the rumors and articles, but we can confirm that they are not true," they begin. "It is not to say that we are closing the door completely to the franchise", but to resume it it will not do it "in the way in which it has been communicated". These words come from the North American division of Konami, so the Japanese branch has not spoken about it.

Rumors indicated that Sony Interactive Entertainment had a new project underway with its Japanese studios. According to what they said, Keiichiro Toyama, director of the original Silent Hill (also responsible for Siren and Gravity Rush) would take charge of a new video game in the series, which would also be joined by two heavyweights from the series: Akira Yamaoka, composer, and Masahiro Ito, designer. For the moment, at least, it doesn't seem like that vision is going to come true.

Silent Hill returns to the cinema

What is confirmed is that Christophe Gang, director of the film adaptation of Silent Hill, is working on a new feature film based on Konami's survival horror. There are no details about the plot or other additional aspects. After two movies, the series had remained fallow.

The last main game was Silent Hill Downpour, which went on sale for PS3 and Xbox 360. These games were developed by western studies, since after Silent Hill 4: The Room, Konami chose to dissolve the Silent Team and outsource their developments.
