The date does not move: Resident Evil 3 Remake is still scheduled for April 3, although the coronavirus crisis (COVID-19) will cause problems in the distribution of physical copies. This has been confirmed by Capcom through a message on social networks, in which it has recognized that some European markets (without specifying which ones) could suffer delays or shortages of units when they go on sale. The Japanese company has explained that they will continue to report based on events.
"As we all know, coronavirus disease is having a broad impact, despite the fact that governments in Europe have instituted restrictions to prevent further expansion," they recall in the statement. "Although the global release date is still April 3, 2020, some European markets may experience delays in shipping physical copies." The company stresses that they are in contact with official regulations to prioritize "the health of fans, employees and partners." Therefore, they are in constant contact with distributors and stores.
It is not the only video game that is going to face this situation. Final Fantasy VII Remake, also distributed by Koch Media in Spain, does not guarantee that physical copies will arrive on time. Even so, they have also decided to keep the launch date, scheduled for April 10 on PlayStation 4. In both cases, the digital launch will not be influenced by the situation.
