The new Riot Games shooter, still in closed beta, manages to break an all-time record on Twitch with more hours displayed on its debut.
A few days ago we saw that the public had fully responded to the debut of Valorant, the new tactical shooter from Riot Games, whose expansion is being unstoppable, also thanks to Legends of Runeterra and more games yet to be announced. The figure of 1.7 million viewers at its peak on its debut day is already extraordinary, but more extraordinary is this: Valorant accumulated no less than 34 million hours viewed during its first 24 hours, which is an absolute record from Twitch.
In fact, those 1.7 million viewers were already worth breaking the peak of Fortnite, and just short of the record for the 2019 League of Legends World Championship Finals. Executive producer of the game, Anna Donlon, has Wanted to thank fans for such a great reception, while also vowing that this closed beta will hit more regions before the final release of Valorant, which will be this coming summer. At the moment, this beta is only available in a few territories between those found in North America, Europe, Russia and Turkey.
Undoubtedly great achievements for Valorant, especially considering his beta phase, although it remains to be seen if he is able to maintain such success in the long term, the true examination of games as a service.
Riot ventures into the shooter
Valorant is a 5 vs 5 tactical shooter with a multitude of characters with different abilities, and in which it is possible to choose the equipment at the beginning of each game. Not long ago since Riot revealed the post-launch content plan, they practically ruled out an open beta before its arrival. At launch we will have 4 maps and a number of characters to be determined, as well as ranked games approximately two weeks after their release.
As we said previously, Valorant will arrive this summer, in principle only to PC.
