An Ask Me Anything session with its director leaves plenty of new details about the sequel to one of the most popular indies ever.

The creators of the recently announced Rogue Legacy 2 went through the Nintendo thread on Reddit to undergo an AMA -Ask Me Anything- session with players, from which a lot of news about this sequel has been stolen. Thus, while the presentation has yet to take place, we have been able to know many details about the game and what will make it different from the original.

A development full of challenges

First, from Cellar Door Games they describe Rogue Legacy 2 as "a metroidvania in a procedural world", at least, that is their goal. This sub-genre of action and platforms in 2 dimensions, as we know, requires the acquisition of new skills and / or objects to access previously inaccessible areas.

This, said so, is a great challenge for a game whose environments are generated procedurally, and more with the peculiarities of this saga, where each time we are reborn we have different abilities, however, from the studio, they trust in success. "We believe we have the answer, but we are still developing. Things can always change," they said.

On the other hand, they assure that Rogue Legacy 2 has been in development for 2 years, having waited until the game was in an advanced state to be able to be shown for its announcement. All this time has led them to want more variety in the tours with each character, different skills and weapons, such as a bow, which will be a novelty in this sequel. This variety also wants to move to the stage, something that together with its procedural generation has been "quite a challenge", according to them.

Meanwhile, they have also spent a lot of time balancing the different classes, giving as an example those who attack at a long distance, who will move more slowly, or simply will not be able to shoot and move at the same time. Finally, they recognize that the coronavirus crisis has affected them negatively. "It has slowed us down, it is inevitable, but we think we are going at a good pace."

Rogue Legacy 2 will arrive this summer on PC, with a version for consoles being more than likely.
