League of Legends raises $ 6 million for charitable causes

Riot Games celebrates the League of Legends' 1,000th skin with a charitable initiative to which its community responds by raising millions of dollars.

It is far from the first time in the past 30 days that Riot Games has decided to donate a significant sum of money to charitable causes, but it is the largest. After contributing a million and a half dollars for the fight against the coronavirus, no less than 6 million dollars have now been raised for causes to be determined, from the sale of a League of Legends skin.

On the occasion of the arrival of the 1,000th skin, Riot Games decided that all of the income from Karma Carrier of the Dawn should be destined for the time being to the Riot Games Social Impact Fund. From now until April 23, fans will be able to vote where they want the money to go, with 50% going to the most voted NGO, with 25% going to those in second and third position.

"We are truly impressed by the generosity of our players," said Jeffrey Burrel, head of social impact at Riot Games. "They have shown us time and time again that they really care about making the world and their communities a better place."

Riot Games, in full expansion

Known until not long ago solely and exclusively for being the creators of League of Legends, Riot Games undertook a few months ago an expansion that will take them to experiment in many and varied genres. This started already with Teamfight Tactics, by far the most successful autochess today and which recently reached mobile devices. But it is not all, and it is that card games and competitive shooters have two new contenders with Legends of Runeterra and Valorant respectively, both having entered strongly into their respective genres. But there is still more, and that is that the studio is also working on a fighting game not yet announced.
