Ubisoft gives away Assassin’s Creed 2: free for PC to pass the coronavirus

The French company remains committed to making quarantine a less difficult period. After Child of Light and others, we return to the Renaissance.

Ubisoft has announced that Assassin’s Creed 2 is available to download completely free through uPlay on its PC version temporarily. The French company, after giving away video games like Child of Light and offering free trial periods for works like Assassin's Creed Odyssey and The Crew 2, remains thus committed to livening up the periods of confinement decreed in many countries by the coronavirus crisis (COVID -19).

The promotion, apart from the great remembered history of Ezio Auditore da Firence in the Italian Renaissance, activates at the same time a temporary discount when buying Assassin’s Creed La Hermandad and Assassin’s Creed Revelations. As far as Assassin’s Creed 2 is concerned, it was developed by Ubisoft Montreal and captained by Patrice Désilets alongside Sébastien Puel and Jade Raymond in production. To download the free game, you only need to have a uPlay account and, to start it, install your PC games client.

Assassin’s Creed 2, one of the emblems of the saga

At the time, at FreeGameTips we rated Assassin's Creed II with an 8 out of 10, a title released at the end of 2009 on PS3, Xbox 360 and PC that consolidated the saga started just a couple of years earlier and that improved, ostensibly, in some of the aspects that made the license great. This time, with Altair's assassin successor, Ezio, where we embarked on the Italian Renaissance.

From him we highlight its attractive history, the platforming phases and the great setting, surprising for the epic. However, their AI failed to satisfy us, as did the combat system and some control issues. All in all, a great video game that is among the best in the famous Ubisoft saga.

The future now passes through new titles. After Assassin’s Creed Origins and Assassin’s Creed Odyssey in Egypt and Greece, respectively, the French giant is now looking for new settings on which to base the next canonical iteration of the saga. In this report, at FreeGameTips we review the future of the license beyond its setting.
