Bravely Default 2 producer already has ideas for a possible Bravely Third

Tomoya Asano acknowledges that he already has in his head what a new installment would be like, which follows in the wake of what has been seen on Nintendo 3DS and now on Switch.

Silicon Studio, the team responsible for the Bravely Default saga on Nintendo 3DS and Octopath Traveler on Nintendo Switch, as well as the next Bravely Default II for the latter, has recognized that they already have ideas for an eventual Bravely Third. Tomoya Asano, producer of the game that we will see on the hybrid console in 2020, assumes that in his head he already has a concept of what would be the fourth iteration of the license.

"I already have a concept for it," says the creative in a meeting with Famitsu when asked about a sequel; in that case, not from the Default aspect, but from the other, Bravely Second, released on Nintendo 3DS back in 2015. "I have not intentionally specified anything, so it could even be a game for smartphones," he stresses. "Maybe I have a chance to do it in the future if the fans support the series," he concludes, so the future of the Bravely name depends strictly on whether or not it is commercially successful.

And it is precisely that title on which it would be based, Bravely Second, which was in the news this week after it was learned that Asano acknowledges that the game was below the expectations set by fans in its day, that they failed to meet that demand for a Excellent JRPG that everyone wanted, including themselves, convinced that they could do it. After Octopath Traveler in 2017, their next appointment will be Bravely Default II on hardware they already know well enough.

Square Enix has not said anything about the release date of Bravely Default II on Nintendo Switch, only that it will arrive sometime in 2020. It is expected, however, well into the second half or end of season.

The console has several appointments before summer arrives. On the one hand, Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition, on the other, ports such as the BioShock, XCOM Collection and Borderlands collections, or also Burnout Paradise Remastered by EA. Star Wars enthusiasts will be able to play Star Wars Episode 1: Racer in just a few weeks. You can see all the games announced during the last Nintendo Direct in March here.
