Final Fantasy XIV: Yasumi Matsuno uses an idea created for the Vagrant Story sequel

Yasumi Matsuno "pulls out of the drawer" an idea created for the Vagrant Story sequel for the development of a Final Fantasy XIV quest chain.

Yasumi Matsuno, a famous Square Enix producer and director of titles like Final Fantasy Tactics and Vagrant Story, has recently been the writer of one of the new quest chains that Final Fantasy XIV has received in its Shadowbringers expansion.

Called Save the Queen: Blades of Gunnhildr, Matsuno asked through her personal Twitter account the reaction that the players had had after completing it, especially those outside of Japan. Among the responses, one user explained that he liked "the concept of how the mind creates defenses to deal with trauma, often lying to itself so as not to confront the truth."

A short time later, Matsuno explained that this idea was originally created for the Vagrant Story sequel. "I took it out of the drawer for the first time in 20 years," he concludes.

How to access the mission

To check the content first-hand, you must purchase the latest expansion available in Final Fantasy XIV. To access it you must be a level 80 magic or war disciple, in addition to completing the main plot of Shadowbringers and the side quest The City of Lost Angels.

The agent that will provide it to you is Keiten, a character who is in Kugane, in the coordinates X: 12.2 Y: 12.3. It will start with the Hail to the Queen mission and will span five main objectives. It is part of patch 5.25, released on April 7. You can check the complete notes in this link.
